NELFT telehealth showcased at conferences
NELFT is participating in a Recap EU telehealth research project where devices are being used with patients in the Essex heart failure service. The Docobo and Philips telehealth devices enable the clinical team to monitor patients’ data daily to assess their progress. The devices are also used as an educational tool to help patients understand their long term condition better.
Anonymised data is analysed by our university project partner in Leuven, Belgium, to assess the impact of telehealth on patients with heart failure.
In April, Michelle Stapleton, Integrated Care Director Thurrock, Jan Minter, Nurse Consultant, Julie Price, Associate Director Performance, and Keith Apperley, BI Manager were invited to present the project at Med-e-Tel 2014 in Luxembourg with project partners from Health Enterprise East and Leuven University (Recap symposium –Intelligent systems supporting decision-making 9 April 2014).
Julie Price said: “There was a lot of interest in the project from conference participants, who attended from across Europe and farther afield. In May, NHS Scotland asked Jan Minter and me to present the project at the Telehealth 2014 conference in Glasgow. Again, the session was very well attended, with great audience participation.”
The project will conclude this year and the outcomes will be published. This will include business case modelling and health outcome data.
